In fact, I can barely sit through any movies or series without scrolling past unnecessarily stuffed in preaching dragging into long stretches of boring blah blah blah drama ruining perfectly good horror. This series is about damn near perfect. The social statements about mental illness, isolation, the abuses of the funding of the medical machine all nests perfectly in the story. Just when I had lost hope for real horror - the real and unreal threaded seamlessly - this series came along just in time. See more Iain H @Coliander Jun 15 Dreadful. Completely unrecognisable departure from Season 1, which was a masterclass in suspense and storytelling. Season 3 would better described as a poor imitation of American Horror Story: Asylum, with absolutely none of the charm or nuance that makes AHS so popular. The pacing is dreadful and any attempt at building a rapport with the characters falls flat on its face. I just didn't care about any of them, and the protagonist had no redeeming qualities whatsoever. This season had huge potential. A sane man being committed to a psychiatric hospital against his will and subsequently appearing unhinged in his attempts to qualify his sanity would have been a fantastic story in itself. A darker, pychological horror take on One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in essence. Instead, the most unsettling thing about this show was that the writers had the audacity to put this dogpile in The Terror franchise. It makes the mediocre second season seem like a triumph in comparison. Avoid. See more G J @GJames Jun 15 Season 1 of the Terror was spectacular. It would be difficult for The Devil in Silver to have been more dreadful and nonsensical. Talented actors, but terrible script and I'd imagine direction. I forced myself to watch the entire season and have gone out of my way to write a review since I'm seldom so disappointed and can't imagine what series these various professional critics (95% Tomatometer???!!!) were watching.
