John W @RT38625431 Mar 19 This is one of the best movies I have seen, looking at these critics reviews I realized how far from real people they are, trash comes out and the critics rave something beautiful and life transforming comes out and the critics trash it. It was an Excellent movie had me weeping tears. So good I bought the DVD and prime video. See more C.B. F. @BonJorno Jan 2 There really isn't a "sports" story to tell here. Marshall was a terrible football team before the crash and they were a terrible football team after the crash. The real story is about the school and the town; which was not the focus here. Also M.M. does some bizarre and distracting character work here. See more Omar T @omar.hamad Dec 24 So it’s a classic sports movie, no plot; however, I enjoyed it very much, loved the dialogue between the new head coach and the other characters. One point I didn’t like was that the characters’ development is so weak because of the focus on the main character only. I think that if the director had focused on the side characters, that would give us a better version. Matthew McConaughey’s performance was beyond greatness. This is his best character, a cowboy style. When you watch his performance, he pulls you in, making it feel like he’s speaking straight to you. Overall, the movie deserved to be watched. Nothing new, just a classic one, but Matthew made it worth the time, in addition to the true story. I give it a solid 7/10. See more James A @RT28532603 Aug 15 I am biased since I am from WV and graduated from Marshall in 1988. This horrible tragedy was of a magnitude that can't be comprehended. Many of the players were local as were the boosters and staff. There were WEEKS of local funerals. The movie is about the rebuilding of not only a football program, but of a university. Yeah, they take some dramatic license and things that are portrayed did not happen. But, the team did upset Xavier at home and started winning in the 1980s and kept on winning in the 1990s and early 2000s. In fact, they went 21 seasons without a losing record. That's the triumph. Those teams after the crash built the foundation. The movie is about picking up the flag and marching on.
