What to Know

Critics Consensus

A welcome spin-off of Letterkenny that skates by on its own two feet, Shoresy avidly turns a joke into a lead with enough momentum to be as successful as its predecessor.

Sure, it’s coarse and repetitive, but that’s absolutely what the character’s fans will crave and, as the six-episode season progresses, it finds unexpected ways to turn Shoresy into somebody worthy of sustained attention. Go to Full Review

Shoresy simultaneously mocks and adores everything about hockey. It takes a wonderfully wacky approach to the game that overwhelms us at this time every year. Go to Full Review

Shoresy is a spin-off that will excite dedicated Letterkenny fans, but it also serves as a great entry point for new fans…It stands on its own as an excellent show that has me very excited to see more in the future. Go to Full Review

I cannot tell you how much I love Jared Keeso’s writing. Go to Full Review

With much of the same Letterkenny crew developing Shoresy, the spinoff feels like a natural extension of the previously established Canadian comedy regarding visuals and vulgar comedy but is still very much its own thing. Go to Full Review

I’ve wholly invested in Shoresy already. I hope we get more Letterkenny cameos besides Anik, although the references and its brand of humor maintain the essence of this ever-expanding universe. Go to Full Review

Larry H @Larry907 Jan 27 Written by someone with a deep understanding of the North American game and a dry sense of humor, and directed by someone with a penchant for the ridiculous. The episodes move quickly assisted by great soundtracks. The acting is intentionally stilted which over time creates a contagious comic effect. Canadians, eh? Ammiright? I really enjoyed this series. See more Michael B. @KVD1969 Jan 19 To save the struggling Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs of the Northern Ontario Senior Hockey Organization (NOSHO), veteran chirper Shoresy makes a bold promise: his team will never lose again. As he assembles a band of legendary tough guys and misfits, Shoresy must balance his relentless on-ice intensity with a desperate attempt to prove that "senior triple-A" hockey is still worth fighting for. See more Slick R @SlickReviewer Jan 17 I just discovered this show. Pretty funny stuff, it's like Ted Lasso but for ice hockey. I'm a SJ Sharks fan so I get the hockey jokes but some of the Canadian references go over my head haha. I think what I like most about the show is the hype music... Music can make or break a show and their soundtrack is outstanding. I'm constantly Shazaming every song and adding to my YouTube. See more Grant O @Gokane Nov 24 Love it. But need to Bea hockey fan if you want to watch it. It’s fun, though 👍🏽 See more Sean M. @Superduperseann Jul 5 If you aren’t a fan of Jared Keeso’s humor, this isn’t the show for you. However, this show gives what Letterkenny (Keeso’s prior show this character was pulled from) lacked. Depth. This is a phenomenal show, and honestly one of my favorites. It has a good story line, characters to care about, and a knockout cast. You’ll laugh. You’ll worry. You’ll CARE. Knockout show. The only reason the first season is a 4.5 star is because it is a jarring start, and can turn people away if they won’t stick it out. KEEP WATCHING! It is WORTH the wait! As someone who has never watched hockey before and isn’t Canadian, it still is a stellar show. See more Nicolette P. @nicolette_cinephile Jun 21 Definitely made for the male gaze. All the girls in bikini shots is a bit redundant borderline boring but—I guess that’s what gets male viewers. Shoresy’s character and lines is what makes the show so funny, endearing, and ultimately what keeps me watching/laughing. See more Read all reviews
