S1 kept me engaged with the interconnected family drama, flashback imagery, and the competition. It ended on a positive note and I didn't think it "needed" anything else. Without the competition, I wasn't sure how S2 would keep my interest, but I was excited to find out. Sure enough, they managed to do it with a scavenger hunt type scenario. Even so, S2 was decidedly more bleak and in the weeds, at times, with what seemed to be forced / unnecessary tension. But, we got character development. We got to see Camille's darker, selfish, arrogant side pour out. At the same time, we dove into Issei's inner demons and outward manifestations. Exploring these in depth made for clunky storytelling at times. But, the realness of their actions and missteps was refreshing. It can be frustrating to watch characters continue to make "bad" choices, only to learn the lesson too late. Eh, I appreciated the realism. Looking forward to S3! I would agree with other reviewers that the second season doesn't pack quite the punch of season one, but this is still a spectacular watch. The relationship between Camille and Issei deepens and broadens, so when they aren't together, I felt the show lost some of its urgency. Still, whether they're together or apart, Drops of God is always a beautiful, thrilling, deeply thoughtful program. This is not only one of the finest shows on Apple TV, it is one of the best things on television today. The drama was a little less plausible. But still solid acting, a great history lesson, and beautiful Georgia was the star. Solid ending too. Hope there is a season three! Season 2 did not disappoint, both seasons were the perfect blends of everything that makes a series wonderful - the characters, their development, the plot, the cinematography, I could go on.
