Two people talking in a car. Hardly the stuff of white-knuckle drama, right? It is when you hitch two phenomenal actors, Rosamund Pike and Matthew Rhys, to a suspenseful script and tightly coiled direction by Babak Anvari, and then let them rip.

As a double feature I had a blast. Miss these types of screenings. “Vincent Must Die” was average for me. Nothing special. Seems the director didn’t know or couldn’t think of an explanation so just left it as whatever. “Hallow Road” was the better film. Mysterious and intriguing. I have my idea about it but overall in the moment I was locked in. I went with it and had a great time. Overall I wish they would do more double features.

Theatrical but Tense (12,358 – 27 Mar 2026) Maddie and her husband Frank,receive a phone call from their daughter Alice saying that she accidentally hit a teenager on the Hallow Road. They drive to meet Alice, and Maddie instructs her daughter to do CPR. Frank wants to protect her daughter, assuming the hit. Alice sees a car and believes it is her parents. But it is a couple that realizes that she is drugged. Alice’s arguments are very shallow, since she stole Frank’s car after a discussion with her parents; head to the Hallow Road; used drugs; and hit the teenager, and the woman is resolute to call the police. "Hallow Road" (2025) is a theatrical and tense thriller based on the performance of Rosamund Pike and Matthew Rhys, and basically only one scenario, the interior of Maddie’s car. It is amazing the bad decisions taken by Frank wanting to protect his daughter. My vote is six, Title (Brazil): "Hallow Road: Caminho Sem Volta" ("Hallow Road: Way without Return")

Pretentious film with a "hidden message" lol, bollocks film, acting was good despite the plot being about as exciting as watching paint dry.

The suspense works — it keeps us attentive to the film. Not seeing anything from the scene and only hearing it works up to a certain point; however, the movie eventually becomes monotonous, and the ending, as well as the plot, leaves something to be desired. If there hadn’t been anything supernatural, it would have been better.
